The theory is
focused on practical situations.
Besides AI-technique, a clear view is given on fertility, semen quality and uterine
recovery. Through digital pictures and video clips all facets of these subjects will be
displayed very detailed on screen and are discussed thoroughly. AI is a sensitive job
which must be done with care, as is defrosting and handling a straw. In the end, the
purpose of an insemination is a pregnancy.
After the theoretical part plenty of time is taken to practice on special frames on which uterine corpses from the slaughterhouse are exposed. In the same situation and attitude we learn best the basics of comfortable and capable AI. Practice on uterine corpses is crucial for good basic knowledge and feeling.
But mostly practice is of course training on real cows.
Through years of experience and devotion, Henk de Bruijn built a practical view on good
training. Not only on a technical but also on a mental basis.
To learn AI is at first not easy, but at the point of breakthrough, almost everyone gets
the job done. Enthusiastic guiding and stimulation can be desicive at this point.
In the Netherlands approximately 90% starts as AI'er with good results and keeps up with it.
Often it appears that problems or mistakes get into AI-work which can cost at lot of money. Frequently HB-KI will solve these problems. When there are doubts or simply bad results, don't wait too long to call for assistance. Problems are often related to the basics. Even a short telephone call or e-mail can solve your problem and prevent stress and loss of income. HB K.I.-Techniek will be happy to help any AI-er. Farmers or professional technicians.
For activities abroad HB-KI makes a program and quotation on request.
In the past pregnancy
control (PRC) was a task only for veterinarians in Holland. Later AI companies also
offered this service. The basic of good PRC (and AI) is a good image of the total uterine
corps.
It appeares that, for an interested AI'er with a certain amount of experience, the step to PRC is not as big as it seems. However, to conclude the status within a couple of weeks is a bit too fast. Working responsible and safe is more important. And a good training and basic knowledge is even more valuable here than with AI-training.

Weekly control at
fifty to sixty days gives a good and reliable impression of your results.
The training method appears to be safe for the embryo. Experience in tracking through the rectum however is an important basic term.
PRC-training also result in a more self-confident and better skilled AI-technique. Diseases and failures after calving are discovered faster and heat is better indicated. To take a real interest in the subject and the time to build experience are very important for the final result of this upgrade.

During the
period of foot- and mouth disease good visual training possibilities were not available in
the Netherlands. HB-KI developed a 25 minute video-instruction in which the total
technical process of semen thawing and a good insemination are revealed in detail.
This tape will be developed in the English and German language.
Unique is an animation which show the insiminationhandling in the cow.

HB-KI is a private
business built in 1996. After 3,5 years as AI-er on a farm and ten years as a professional
AI-technician/embryo-transferror, Henk de Bruijn started this firm specialised in training
(mostly farmers) in AI-technique and pregnancy control of cattle.
Also semen- and fertility control are core business to HB-KI.
Untill spring 2004 over 2500 people have been trained by this company in artificial insemination and approximately 800 AI-ers are capable of controlling pregnancies from fifty days off.
